about

Amy Wilder Files is an artist and designer living in Midcoast Maine. After studying and training as a designer in Boston, MA, she and her partner moved to the area in order to be able to focus on her artwork near the coast, nature, and to connect with the special small-town community located there.

Amy works in encaustic—a mixture of beeswax and resin. She is drawn to this medium because of its unique ability to fuse craft, fine art and design. Working with encaustics allows her to explore a realm of dimensionality—to create depth through layering, use of mixed media, and through three-dimensional and sculptural form—that melds her design training with love for organic elements and the unexpected.

When not working in her studio, Amy offers design and brand consulting services through her design business wilderbydesign, volunteers as a community organizer, and is slowly chipping away at the 1850’s era “project” home she which shares with her architect life partner.

Amy’s studio is located in Rockland, Maine and is open by appointment. If you are interested in viewing her artwork, please fill out this contact form or call 207-200-5151.
